Mountain trail training is one of our specialities and take care to adopt natural topologies on our grounds. We've also sought out the natural trails inherent to Oregon's beautiful landscape for our outings and trail rides. The ideal is to expose our stock to natural terrain which also include, and as an added value, our back roads exposing our stock to man made surfaces and human traffic, both man made and mechanical.
On our grounds we simulate natural elements found outside of our grounds. We simulate cross bridges, water crossings, and road traffic. Exposure to the a variety of environmental conditions to assure a well tempered horse capable or negotiating wooded trails as well as man made roads.
At Daystar Farms, we tailor our training session around the specifics of our client's needs and horses, and fully understand every need. We also understand that any trainer can and more than often can get a horse to a show arena and ride their horse - That is not for the average horse owner. It takes many hours of training to get a quiet attitude, it takes hours upon hours of interaction and walks on the road where they might encounter a verity of variables such as large trucks, busy traffic and various wheeled vehicles. That's a touchy area for equines.
Our lead trainer, Lori, carries out her training sessions in snow and, when available, fierce winds. She considers these natural elements and training perks building trust between handler and horse consistent with our philosophy of horse and rider in accord.
